About Me

I'm Abiodun Emmanuel Oyediran, and I'm a recent graduate in Forestry from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria. My academic journey has ignited a strong passion for quantitative ecology and forest biometrics. I am dedicated to gaining a comprehensive understanding of forest ecology and the application of remote sensing technologies to contribute meaningfully to this dynamic field.
My education began at the University of Ibadan, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. Before that, I obtained my West African Senior Secondary Examination Certificate (W.A.S.S.C.E.) from the Kingdom International Private School.
My professional journey started when I became a Research Assistant at the Department of Social and Environmental Forestry, University of Ibadan. Under the guidance of Dr. Akintunde-Alo Daniel, I honed my skills in scientific paper writing and contributed to spatial and forest inventory data collection. From 2021 to 2023, I dedicated myself to processing and analyzing data using GIS and remote sensing technologies and techniques. My proficiency in UAV drone mapping further enriched my skill set during this period.
My academic achievements culminated in my undergraduate thesis, where I meticulously developed a geodatabase for the Awba Dam Catchment Basin Plantation in the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. This achievement marked a significant milestone in my journey.
Continuing on this path, I joined the research team responsible for an aerial survey of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education using DJI Phantom 4 pro v2.0. I played a pivotal role in spatial data collection, spatial data wrangling, and map production, utilizing my expertise in Agisoft Metashape Pro software.
I further demonstrated my versatility as a GIS Analyst in the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Project. Here, I facilitated mobile GIS training, collected data, conducted data wrangling and analysis, and contributed to map production.
My internship at the University of Ibadan from 2020 to 2021 saw me involved in various projects, including the Awba Dam Rehabilitation and Integrated Management Project, inventory analysis of Nauclea diderrichii trees, ecological surveys, and more.
My academic journey has been enriched by a wide range of skills. I am proficient in statistical tools such as SPSS, Minitab, SAS, and R. I possess an understanding of programming languages like Python and SQL. My GIS and remote sensing expertise spans various platforms, including ArcGIS, QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, Google Earth Engine, and more. I'm also proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
To further enhance my skill set, I've earned numerous certificates, including those in remote sensing, ecology, forest inventory, programming, and more.
In the realm of conferences, workshops, and seminars, I have been an active participant and facilitator, engaging with the latest trends and developments in the field.
My passion for conservation and sustainable forestry is not confined to my academic and professional endeavors. I'm an active member of various organizations, including The Tree Club, International Forestry Students Association (IFSA), and the Data Scientist Network. I'm deeply involved in these communities, aligning with my commitment to learning and growth.
In terms of leadership, I have served as a class representative, a member of the Audit committee, and a group leader, underscoring my commitment to organizational and leadership roles.

As I continue my academic and professional journey, I am poised to make significant contributions to the field of forestry and quantitative ecology, backed by my unwavering dedication and passion for sustainable forest management.
